Suspension Files, getting the right size hanging files

Thanks for looking, seems alot of fellow ebayers struggle getting sizes right for their filing cabinets!!I wrote this in a hope to help you all out, making sure you always get the right size for the job.

Suspension files are the most popular from of hanging file. They have top access to contents and are used in filing cabinets, desk high drawer units and cupboards with suspension file chassis. Filing capacity if you suffer from overloaded files you may require an extra capacity file. Suspension files are now available in standard capacity or with a 30mm or 50mm gusset.

SIZE This is the big query for most, several sizes are on the market but the most popular by far are A4 or Foolscap. From my experience thesmaller desk high units and filing cabinets from Argos, MFIetc usually take A4. The businessfiling cabinets and larger pedestals from office suppliers take foolscap. Trolleys can take either. My filing cabinets and pedestals all take foolscap size files.A4 Suspension Files (Smaller Files)Theoverall width ofthe file is 340mm300mm is the measurement of the paper folder.Thedistance from the edge of the paper folder to the centre of the tab is 10mmThewidth of the whole tab is 20mmThewidth of the inside indentof the tab is 10mmThe Depth of the whole file is 240mmTherefore these files hang perfectly onhangers thatare 320mm to 330mm apart.FoolscapSuspension Files (Larger Files)Theoverall width ofthe file is 405mm360mm is the measurement of the paper folder.Thedistance from the edge of the paper folder to the centre of the tab is 10mmThewidth of the whole tab is 20mmThewidth of the inside indentof the tab is 10mmThe Depth of the whole file is 240mmTherefore these files hang perfectly onhangers thatare 380mm to 390mm apart. There are many other files out there like Lateral files, thesehave different usessoplease see my listings for information about them and find the right file for the job!Hope this helps, please show your support by buying our filesMy Suspension FilesAll My Files and FoldersMy Filing Cabinets
